DARK CLOUD

An Insider’s View Of Depression

Caught

Caught in a room, I can't see the door, and
I don't know where to turn for help.
I have the tools to fix myself but don't know where to start.
It's easier to just stay where I am.
I want to pick myself up, get my life back on the move
But every path just seems to overwhelm.
I know that every journey starts with just a single step
The first step is the hardest one to take.

The future's bleak, and my prospects poor, but
A hidden fire won't let me quit.
I sometimes wish that hidden fire would simply go away
And leave me here to slowly fade away.
I can't ignore the feeling that I've something left to give
That there's a plan for me I cannot see,
And so I struggle with myself to take that first big step.
I'm crying out for help that can't be found.

I take a step, and I see a path, then
There's something new to block the way.
I summon up the courage now to take another step
The obstacle is past; I'm on my way!
I take a few more steps along the path that I have found;
That hidden fire is driving me along,
And then I find that once again I see no way ahead.
The path is hidden from me once again.
The path is hidden from me once again.
